Amazing images! Loving me some "Drawing in December" and "Side by Side in Japan"

Source : John Finnemore Blog Drawing in December While looking for some information online regarding how to draw buildings, I came across two very amazing painting and drawing blogs that I want to gush about and share with others. The first 'gush and share' is a blog called Forget What Did by John Finnemore who - according to what I've seen of his blog - enjoys drawing in his spare time. He did a series of drawings in the days leading up to Christmas in December 2011 which I really enjoyed which is why I'm linking to them. As John explains himself, "I write and perform comedy and drama for TV, radio and the stage. For instance, I write the BBC Radio 4 sitcom 'Cabin Pressure', and play the part of Arthur." Well there you go - one talented man who can draw to boot! Do make sure to check out the drawings for the 10th, the 15th and the 20th of December as I love those the best. The artist explains the technique: "I''ve ve only dra...

Judging based on appearance : Sad but True

Image
Sad but true. Both men and women the world over label and judge others based on how they look, what they wear and how they choose to express themselves.  A recently published study by the Brazilian Institute for Applied Economics ( IPEA ) shows that a stunning 65% of respondents found that a woman who dressed provocatively deserved to be attacked or raped .  "Earlier this week, a study was released that said a startling 65.1 percent of Brazilians either partially or wholly believe that "if dressed provocatively, women deserve to be attacked and raped." In addition, the study revealed a 58.5 percent complacency with the belief that "if women knew how to behave, there would be less rape." ~ Huffington Post

While focusing on looks or the 'beautification'of one's exterior is most certainly NOT one of our aim at this blog, we do very much appreciate the weird, the wonderful, the special and the extraordinary.  Which is why we're thrilled to share this  S F Times  article with you all. The article presents drawings that are so amazing and life-like that it is impossible to tell that they are not actual photographs!

Gobekli Tepe; World's Oldest Temple

This blog has featured posts about Gobekli Tepe in Turkey before. As ancient locations go, this is one of the most fascinating sites in the entire world! While we don't browse the web daily looking for news on all topics that interest us, today's article falls right smack in the 'interesting news' category! Owen Jarus writes for NBC News: "Ancient blades made of volcanic rock that were discovered at what may be the world's oldest temple suggest that the site in Turkey was the hub of a pilgrimage  that attracted a cosmopolitan group of people some 11,000 years ago.  The researchers matched up about 130 of the blades, which would have been used as tools, with their source volcanoes, finding people would have come from far and wide to congregate at the ancient temple site, Gobekli Tepe, in southern Turkey. The blades are made of obsidian, a volcanic glass rich with silica, which forms when lava cools quickly." Source :   'World's Oldest temple...
